Lana Del Rey Makeup

So carrying on my new obsession with Lana Del Rey I thought I'd do an inspired makeup look. I think Lana is so pretty and I'd love to have her lips whether she's had surgery or not! I've noticed she tends to wear winged eyeliner a lot with a pink/coral lip and pink-toned blusher quite low on her cheekbones, this is an inspired look so remember it is not an exact copy!

Top Nail Varnishes For Spring!

Hi everyone, so as it is getting into Spring now I decided to raid my nail varnish collection and have picked my 6 favourites for this Spring :)
I didn't realise when I took the photo's buy I'm definitely enjoying pinks this spring! I haven't bought any new nail varnishes recently so these aren't new apart from the MUA nail varnish but hopefully I'll be buying some more soon :)

Ruby Hammer Recommends £8.00 (as part of a set)
This nail varnish doesn't have a colour or number but it's a really nice peachy-pink but it isn't too bright. I was given this in a set for christmas and i can't find the link to it on the debenhams website but they have the set Here. These aren't the most amazing nail varnishes and I was expecting better from the makers of Ruby & Millie as I find the brush a bit short and sprouty but I love the colour :)
Nails Inc - Bristol £11.00
This nail varnish is a gorgeous nude colour with a pink undertone, if you just want something really natural and muted this is perfect. Nails Inc are quite pricey but they are fairly good quality and are quite often free gifts on magazines so keep your eyes peeled! This colour is actually discontinued now but I found it in the makeup section of my local TK Maxx where they quite regularly have nails inc products so go have a look :) (TK Maxx store locator)

Barry M Nail Paint - 305 Pink Flamingo £2.99
This is a really bright vivid pink, it comes out with a slightly more neon tinge on the nail than in the photo but it's just really girly and pretty which is why I chose it for spring :) The Barry M Nail Paints are amazing for the price they cost and I would strongly recommend them, however you do need two coats otherwise it looks quite opaque, you can find it here specifically or in superdrug :)

Models Own - Vintage Pink £5
This is one of my all time favourite nail varnishes! It is a really lovely dusty rose colour which is kind of between a nude and colour, the formulation is great as you only need one coat and it's not too thick or too runny :) I can't find this on the website but I bought it in River Island, but I think it's just been renamed to Soda Pop Pink (models own website) but anyway everybody should own this nail varnish it's just amazing!

Fearne Cotton - Coral £5.50
This is probably one of the brighter nail varnishes I have chosen which is a coral colour which is slightly more red, I like this as it seems to go with anything I wear and it's quite long lasting. This one I got in the Christmas set but you can buy it individually here where it's actually on sale at £1.37!

MUA Love Hearts Collection - U R Fab £2.00
I used this nail varnish in my fake nails post for the first time and I actually really like it, I'm always dubious about MUA as they are so cheap but I've bought quite a few products from there recently and I'm loving them. This nail varnish is a raspberry colour which I've seen a lot of recently, the actual nail varnish is good quality and the brush is practically the same as the nails inc ones so I would definitely recommend, this is limited edition so find it in superdrug or here before they all go!

So that was my top nail varnishes for spring, I'm planning a trip up to Westfields soon so if I buy any more nail varnishes I'll do another post as I absolutely love nail varnish at the moment :)

Kiss Fake Nails

So like many people I cannot afford to get professional nails done at the salon and naturally my nails just don't grow long, they end up breaking and then I have to cut them all down to match. I started to think of trying different types and thats when I tried Kiss nails and, I have to say they are the best highstreet store fake nails I have found.

What I used:
- Kiss 100 Full Cover Nails
- a cuticle/hand cream
- nail varnish remover
- a nail polish
- nail files (one soft, one harder)
- nail clippers
- a cocktail stick
- cotton pads

So I always go for the short square nails as I like the shape and my nails are naturally quite square anyway and you get 100 in 10 different sizes, you probably won't use the whole 100 unless your very good at filing them down, I get five sets of nails out of this which for £6.15(superdrug) is really affordable! If you don't want square nails, they do sell rounded nails but not always.

These are also really great if you've never used fake nails before because, well, you have loads to practice on! It took me a few practices before I got the hang of it but it's really not that hard :)

I find these last about a week which is perfect for me as I can't have them for work on saturdays and they are quite easy to remove :)
the finished product!
(apologies for the awful photo, I took this on my laptop at night - i'm not normally tangerine coloured!)
nail varnish - MUA - U R FAB
 scarf - Next
dress- New Look
cardigan - Primark
ring - Aubin & Wills
earrings - Forever 21

March Glossy Box! The Harrods Edition!

So here is the box that has been hyped up by glossybox as 'the unexpected' something that's going to re-excite all subscribers and encourage more people to subscribe! What do you think??

So first impressions, well it looks a bit fuller than my last box which was made up of tiny tiny samples although I was a little disappointed that I didn't get the Burberry mini-lipstick or the valentino valentina perfume that I got excited about when I heard the rumours.
so what did I get??
Versace - Vanitas Eau De Parfum
Bliss - Blood Orange and White Pepper Body Butter
Revive - Intensite Creme Lustre
Lancome - Juicy Tube in Toffee
Clarins - Extra-Firming Body Lotion Cream
(Well it seems I must sound saggy because they've sent me two firming creams, I know your supposed to start using them when your younger but I'm only 16!!)

Versace - Vanitas Eau De Parfum (4,5ml) Full size: 50 ml - £58.99
What they said: 'a luxurious scent from the House of Versace.Vanitas is a rich and voluptuous fragrance with notes of tiare flower, lime and freesia'
What I say: I like this perfume it reminds me of spring as it's really fresh and floral. I like the fact it's actually in a mini bottle rather than a plastic tube because the bottle is so cute! For those of you who like to go by price, if you were to buy it this size, it would roughly come to £5.30. Rating : ♥♥♥♥

Bliss - Blood Orange and White Pepper Body Butter (50ml) Full size : 200ml - £20.50
What they said: 'Deeply moisturising, skin softening, naturally rejuvenating body butter in mouth watering blood orange and white pepper'
What I say: I'm undecided on this body butter, yes it's incredibly moisturising but I'm not sure if I like the smell or not! For me it smells less like fresh oranges and more like orange jelly and nowhere as good as the bodyshop one. If you've never heard of Bliss before they're an international spa company who owe a lot of recent publicity to Oprah.  The price - roughly £5.10. Rating ♥♥♥
Revive - Intensite Creme Lustre SPF30 (7ml) Full size: 60ml £235.00 - yes that is right!!!
What they said: 'An intensive, firming moisturiser that helps to reduce the appearance of sagging skin'
What I say: well this didn't look like much but when I saw the price I couldn't believe it!! This is exactly the kind of product glossybox subscribers sign up for, I know it's an anti-ageing cream which as I'm 16 could be a little offending but I will definitely give it a try or save it for when the wrinkles start appearing, it doesn't really have a smell so will be good for people with sensitive skin as there's no perfume in it. This would cost roughly £27.40 if you bought it this size. Rating:♥♥♥
Lancome - Juicy Tubes - Toffee R'N'B 93 (7ml) Full size: 18ml £15.50
What they said: 'Ultra Shiny hydrating lipgloss;
What I say: So I was pleased there was at least one makeup item in my box, however I got lipgloss last month too lets hope lipgloss doesn't turn into the new moisturiser! I would love love love this if it wasn't toffee! I hate toffee!! It makes me feel sick! I might keep trying it and see how it goes but I do feel queasy smelling it right now!! Roughly would cost £6.00. Rating ♥
Clarins - Extra-Firming Body Cream (30ml) Full size: 200ml £39.50
What they said: 'A formula rich in regenerating and firming plant extracts which restore the skin's youthful density and elasticity'
What I say: Another firming cream?? Really glossybox, I like the fact it's Clarins so a good brand again but two of the same products doesn't seem right to me?? anyway I don't want to be negative so I'm going to try it but yeah would cost roughly  £5.90 ♥♥♥
So price wise this box is worth £49.70 so the Harrods box did follow through with what they promised, luxury brands. However I think that they made a mistake including two anti-ageing firming products, other than that I like the box, would really like more mini perfumes!! They're perfect for my handbag and I'm always trying perfumes :)

What I've Been Up To!

Lipstick: Mac - Please Me
Military Navy Cardigan - Zara
Hiyaa, so I haven't posted in a while so I decided to try and do a few posts this evening starting with why I've been so busy. Firstly, it's been pretty hectic at sixthform recently with deadlines and exams and everything and I have literally not stopped working for the past two weeks! Today I had my art exam which was a very gruelling 5 hours long and I got my results (a C in Business Studies, I'd hoped for a bit higher but I'm just glad I passed!!) so I can finally relax and get back into my usual routine :)
My art exam piece (for AS we do a development piece in our exam)
Question: Posters & Signs
'The Beauty Of A Woman Must Be Seen From In Her Eyes' - Audrey Hepburn

Another reason I've been reaaaaaaaaally busy is that I'm doing the Young Enterprise programme at my school and we kind of left everything to the last minute but now we've kicked each other up the bum and are doing some work and as deputy managing director I have a lot of things to do. Our company is called Niña and we're selling some really cute jewellery that we've made so if you're in the Kent area watch out for us at any fairs, shopping centres and events :)

Makeup look Using BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow

So I decided to do a look using the BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow that I received in my GlossyBox. This is quite a natural, everyday look that is easy to do and if you want to recreate it read on :)
Products used:
Simple Kind To Skin Vital Vitamin Day Cream
Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in 003 Shell
GOSH Click To Conceal 02 Medium
MaxFactor Bronzing Powder 02 Bronze
SunKissed Get The Look Be Bronzed Blush
No 7 Amazing Eyes Pencil in Brown
GOSH Eye Primer
Loreal Color Appeal Trio Pro for Hazel Eyes
BM Beauty Mineral Eyeshadow in Dusty Road
No7 Exquisite Curl Mascara in Black/Brown
Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes in So Black!
NYC Show Time Mascara in Black
Max Factor Colour Collections Lipstick in Pink Brandy

Apply a moisturiser or face primer with the fingers all over the face
Apply a light coverage of foundation all over the face using a foundation brush
apply a concealer on any blemishes and under the eyes
Apply a bronzer/contouring powder under the cheekbones, down either side of the nose and around the temples with a kabuki brush to contour the face
Lightly apply a peach/pink toned blush to the top of the cheek bone avoiding the apples of the cheek
Brush your brows through and fill in the brows with brow powder/pencil
Apply a primer to the eyes all over the lid and crease
Apply a shimmery, nude, gold colour all over the lids using a large eyeshadow brush
Take a small amount of the mineral eyeshadow in dusty road making sure to tap off any excess on a fluffy crease brush and apply it to the outer two thirds of the eye blending well into the brow bone. Take a highlight and lightly brush it just under the arch of the brow.
Use a darker brown eyeshadow on an angled brush and press the eyeshadow into the lash line as close as possible to create a thin liner and do the same on the bottom lashes but only on the outer third.
Curl your eyelashes
Apply a brown mascara all over the top lashes, if you want a very natural look leave it like this, for more defined lashes apply a second coat of a black mascara over the top and apply a small amount of mascara to the bottom lashes
Finally use a subtle pink/red lipstick on the lips
